Love, Beads & Culture

Rooted in Culture. Made with Love.

Adorned by Abena is the love story of a woman returning to herself.

I was introduced to waist beads during a season that forever changed the way I saw beauty, femininity, and my connection to Ghana. What began as an act of love quickly became something much deeper. I was captivated by the artistry, symbolism, and tradition woven into every strand. Waist beads became more than adornment—they became a reminder to slow down, honor myself, and embrace the woman I was becoming.

As I learned more about their cultural significance, I realized I wasn't discovering something entirely new. I was returning to a part of myself that had always been there. Long before Adorned by Abena, long before Ghana, I was a little girl who found joy in making beaded jewelry. It was one of my earliest creative expressions. Life carried me in many different directions, but through Ghanaian beadwork, I found my way back to that part of myself. Looking back, I don't believe it was a coincidence. I believe some passions are meant to find us again when we're finally ready to live them.

Today, Adorned by Abena is a Ghanaian-inspired lifestyle brand helping women return to themselves through adornment, culture, feminine wellness, and living beautifully.

Every piece is thoughtfully curated to celebrate the beauty, symbolism, and cultural significance of beads. Our authentic Krobo beads and other beadwork are sourced from Ghana, supporting talented artisans whose craftsmanship has been passed down through generations. Each design carries a story of beauty, heritage, and connection, inviting you to adorn yourself with intention and meaning.

Whether you're celebrating a milestone, embracing a new season, or simply choosing yourself, my hope is that every piece serves as a gentle reminder that everything you're searching for has always lived within you.

Welcome to Adorned by Abena.

Live beautifully,

Lovisa "Abena" Woodson
