OUR STORY
BEHIND THE BEADS
Adorned by Abena began as a love story between a woman, a culture, and the man who brought them together. My journey with waist beads started when my husband, a proud Ghanaian, shared his admiration for their beauty. For our wedding, I wore my first set—symbols of love, heritage, and femininity. What began as an act of love soon became a passion.
Named after my kradin, Adorned by Abena reflects my deep affinity for Ghana. My husband plays a vital role—sourcing authentic materials and partnering with skilled artisans to ensure each piece is ethically made and culturally rich.
Together, our mission is to share the beauty, history, and authenticity of Ghanaian culture—while contributing to Ghana’s economic growth by supporting local artisans.
Every adornment is a celebration of womanhood, African heritage, and the timeless artistry of traditional Ghanaian beadwork. Welcome to our journey!
With love and intention,
Lovisa (Abena) Yirenkyi
